Verb conjugation is considered a nightmare for a lot of language learners. Why? Because most of the time they are not explained in a way that we understand. Conjugation is actually a very simple thing to understand for most verbs. This section is focused on teaching you verb conjugation in a way that most people find very easy. In fact, many of our users wonder why they had such a hard time learning them in the past. Take a quick look at this…
Can you remember these few words in parenthesis? Great! You have just learned how to conjugate hundreds of verbs in the future tense in Spanish!
For most verbs, there are two parts to learn its conjugation. The stem of the verb and the ending of the verb. We won’t go into too much detail in this guide because the lessons in the program will be much easier to learn from. In short, the stem of the verb is the part that never changes within the verb. The ending is the part that does change within the verb itself, but doesn’t change from one verb to the other. For example…
In this example, you can simply take out AR in the verb and you get the stem. You can then add the endings you learned earlier and you have just conjugated the verb! You can do this for all regular AR verbs in the Spanish language. All you have to learn now that you know the endings is the stem of the verb.
The Verb Endings section is dedicated to learning the endings for all groups of verbs and transform you into a conjugation machine in no time! 😛 The lessons will explain the stem/ending concept in a visual way for you to understand rapidly. It is also important to note that you will get plenty of practice with the endings in the Individual Verbs section. So once you have completed these lessons, the Individual Verbs become very easy and offers a lot of practice to really make conjugation second nature.
The Endings lessons are pretty straightforward. You will learn the ending for each pronoun and you will see how they are added to the stem of regular verbs. Since we believe these lessons are like magic (yes, we believe in magic) to learn conjugation, a magic wand will remove the original ending to reveal the stem and it will be substituted by the correct endings. This is all done in front of your eyes and the conjugation are said out loud by our native speakers. It may seem confusing from this description, but don’t worry it is really easy once you actually take a lesson. We don’t use that magic wand lightly, at the end of the lesson and exercises, you will be quite amazed by the magic power of conjugation (yes, we are real geeks).
In each lesson, you will learn the endings for a particular tense, you will then see the endings used in two example verbs. You can click around the lesson to navigate to any section you want or to repeat the conjugation.
Level one: Conjugation Match. This is an easy matching game. Simply drag and drop the puzzle pieces to their corresponding pronouns. These are really quick, fun and easy and they will accentuate the lesson. Every time you get a right answer, some puzzle pieces will be added to eventually reveal an image associated to the verb. This is just to add a bit of fun to these and create an extra image association. Remember that this is just a bonus feature and your attention should be on learning the endings. Once you get a good score on this exercise, you should know them relatively well. Move on to the next level to master these endings.
Congratulations! Now you know how to conjugate hundreds of verbs in your new language. You can now learn stems of verbs and see hundreds of examples in the Individual Verbs section. Time to put that magic to good use!
